Full list of postcodes qualifying for DWP Cold Weather Payments

As the winter chill continues, certain households may soon see cash payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) appearing in their bank accounts. The Cold Weather Payment scheme provides financial support to eligible households when temperatures drop below a certain level for a prolonged period.

The scheme, which runs until March, is available to those receiving certain DWP means-tested benefits. The payments, valued at £25, are made per seven days if the average temperature in a specific area drops to zero degrees or below.

Qualifying households will receive the money automatically, so there’s no need to claim.

Who is eligible for a Cold Weather Payment?

You may receive these payments if you receive the following:

  • Universal Credit
  • Support for Mortgage Interest
  • Income Support
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension Credit

Each benefit has specific criteria that qualify an individual for payment, such as having a disability, pensioner premium, or living with a child under five. Individuals who live in Scotland are not eligible for Cold Weather Payments but may instead receive a Winter Heating Payment, the Express reports.

How to check if your postcode is due a Cold Weather Payment

Individuals can check if their postcode is due a payment by using the Government tool. The calculators vary by country, so residents of England, Wales, or Northern Ireland should select the correct one.

The first Cold Weather Payments of the year have now been triggered after northern England experienced a recent drop in temperatures. According to the DWP, a total of 18 postcode areas in England are due payments for the period January 2 to January 9.

Cold Weather Payments were previously triggered in mid-November during the season’s first cold snap. Areas due a payment include certain parts of Cumbria and Northumberland , reports the Manchester Evening News.

Listed below are the postcodes reportedly set to receive a boost for January.
