Two teenagers have been arrested after an 18-year-old student was stabbed near Shooters Hill Sixth Form College on Monday (January 6). A 19-year-old man and 17-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder yesterday (Tuesday, 7 January)
The victim remains in hospital but is in stable condition, and his injuries have been assessed to be non-life-threatening and non-life-changing. Both suspects remain in police custody, and an investigation is ongoing.
Police rushed to the scene on Monday to reports of an 18-year-old boy being stabbed on Prince Imperial Road at about 4.20pm. Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics and rushed him to hospital in critical condition, from which he has since stabilised.
Shooters Hill Sixth Form College has offered support and counselling to anyone who has been affected by the incident. The college is closed today (Wednesday, January 8), a note on their website reports. It adds that updates will be sent to students, parents, and carers via text, and students with exams are still expected to sit them.
This was the first of two stabbings in Woolwich in two days after 14-year-old boy Kelyan Bokassa was stabbed to death on a bus on Woolwich Church Street at about 2.30pm on Tuesday. The stabbings were unrelated.
A spokesperson from the Met Police released a statement about the Prince Imperial Road stabbing. They said: “A 19-year-old man and 17-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder on Tuesday, 7 January, following the stabbing of an 18-year-old man at Prince Imperial Road SE18.
“The victim is in stable condition and remains in hospital with non-life threatening and non-life changing injuries. Both suspects remain in police custody. The investigation is ongoing.
