Senedd members could be set for a hefty hike in pay after a board in charge of setting their salaries recommended lifting a cap on increases. It means those in top jobs, including the First Minister, cabinet members, and those who chair committees in the Senedd, will be in line for a substantial bump if the recommendation gets the go-ahead.
The base salary for Senedd Members (MSs) will be £76,380 if the proposed increase is approved. There are then additional payments if Senedd members have other roles.
By comparison MPs received £91,346 as a base salary in 2024 although no figure for 2025 is yet public. The Prime Minister receives £91,346 for being an MP and can claim £80,807 for being PM although only £75,440 is claimed. That makes a total of £166,786, which will be less than the £167,081 Mrs Morgan will receive if the recommendation is approved.
