Tom Brittney will make his last appearance as Reverend Will Davenport in Grantchester this series after an impressive six-year stint. The 34 year old actor said it was time to “pass the baton on”.
This current season will mark Tom’s farewell, with Rishi Nair set to step in as the forthcoming vicar, Alphy Kotteram. Reflecting on his journey, Tom shared: “I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for.
“I’ll miss it more than anything. But it’s time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me, and I’m so excited for Rishi to join the Grantchester family.”

He also spoke about the reason he had decided to quit the ITV show, saying: “I left Grantchester a few months ago after six happy years of doing the show.
“I wanted to see what else was out there and play different people for a while! So currently on the hunt for that exciting next thing.”
Tom Brittney’s hidden health battle
Tom, who has also graced our screens in Doctors and fantasy show Outlander, previously revealed that he had been diagnosed with body dysmorphis, with the condition affecting him from a young age. He spoke about his struggles with body image after taking on the Grantchester role.
“I’m very insecure with the way that I look and I’ll beat myself up about performances,” he admitted. “I used to take off days from school, because I just hated the way that I looked.”
Body dysmorphia is a mental health condition where an individual excessively worries about perceived flaws in their appearance, often unnoticed by others. Treatments for the disorder include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
