Now, the Met say they’ve made an arrest related to the case. Today, January 8, police arrested an 18-year-old man who remains in custody.

Michelle’s family have been informed of the development and continue to be supported by specially trained officers. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who leads the investigation, said: “While this arrest marks a significant step forward in this investigation we continue to appeal for anyone with information about Michelle’s murder to come forward and speak to us.

“This was senseless act of violence that resulted in an innocent woman being killed. Michelle’s family continue to grieve and we are determined to ensure those responsible face the consequences of their actions. If you can help in any way then please don’t hesitate to contact us.”

The police were called at around 9.15pm on Saturday, December 14, to reports of a shooting in Gifford Road between Harlesden and Willesden. The shooting took place outside a church, where Michelle and others were standing after a wake that happened inside the church.

Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Michelle died at the scene. Two other men, both aged in their 30s, suffered severe injuries.

One man has been discharged from hospital while the other remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition. The shots were fired from a black Kia Niro with distinctive alloys, with the number plate LA23 XRE.

Following the shooting the car was driven to Barnhill Road where it was abandoned and set alight. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
