EastEnders devotees are worrying over Phil Mitchell’s fate as he keeps his struggles to himself. Recently, on the BBC One drama, Phil, portrayed by Steve McFadden, has exhibited serious symptoms of depression and seems utterly isolated.
During the festive season, with the return of Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) to the Square, Phil focused all his energies on his long time mate.
On Monday, in a surprising twist, Phil decided to secretly pass on his share of the Boxing Den to Nigel, excluding his business associate Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) from the decision.
But during Tuesday’s visit to Walford (January 8), Nigel attempted to persuade Phil that he was making an error giving away half the gym, but Phil had already resolved on his course of action, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Sharon learned about Phil’s scheme later on from Nigel and stormed off to The Vic to seek answers. Despite her efforts, Phil remains emotionally detached and barely responds before tearfully stating, “I’m done, I’m tired.”
Sharon, along with the entire Mitchell family, forced an intervention to discuss Phil’s potential health issues.
Phil, however, dismissed any concerns of illness, claiming his untidy house is simply down to being a ‘bachelor’.
This behaviour, though, has set alarm bells ringing among viewers, leading to speculation that Phil might be contemplating suicide.
