25 schools have closed on Thursday so far – as the UK snow storm continues. The Met Office has issued yellow and amber alerts for the country as the temperatures plunge in the wake of the Christmas period and the New Year celebrations last week.
Forecasters and meteorologists have warned UK towns and cities and communities that fresh snowfall is anticipated across Thursday, January 9. It means schools are shutting their doors with classes disrupted AGAIN – after closures across January 6, January 7 and January 8.
Parents are urged to check with on their children’s school websites in the morning, with information also posted on council sites and on local radio stations. Pupils across the country have had their Christmas holidays extended as classrooms have failed to reopen due to flooding, icy conditions and bad weather.

Deputy Chief Forecaster, Christoph Almond, said: “Thursday will see another cold night, with potentially the lowest temperatures of the Winter so far, -15°C – possibly -16°C is likely in locations with lying snow in Scotland or northern England.”
