Man hit over head in shocking East London crowbar attack – police make two arrests

Two people have been arrested after man was attacked with a crowbar in Bow on Tuesday, January 7. Police and paramedics rushed to Eric Street, Bow at 5.40pm to reports a man had been struck over the head with a crowbar.

He was taken to hospital where his injuries were found to be non-life threatening, before being released. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed a 16-year-old boy and a man in his 30s have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and remain in police custody

The investigation into the attack is ongoing as police continue to appeal for witnesses. A force spokesperson said: “Police were called at 5.40pm on Tuesday, January 7 to reports of a man being assaulted with a crowbar on Eric Street, Bow.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and supported a man in his 40s suffering from injuries to his head. The man was taken to hospital where his injuries was deemed non-life threatening and he was released shortly after.

“A man is his 30s and a 16 year-old was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both suspects remain in police custody. The investigation is ongoing.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 5297/7Jan. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
