ITV Good Morning Britain has been halted for a dramatic evacuation on Thursday – as Ross King reported from the California wildfires. The ITV show returned on Thursday with showbiz correspondent Ross dialling in from the US via video link.
During his report, King has revealed he has been subject to an evacuation order in Los Angeles. The entertainment reporter told how his car was packed up and ready to go in ‘one of the weirdest and scariest things’ he has been through.
The star told Ed Balls and Ranvir Singh about how he had had his car “packed up for a day or so” and made sure his vehicle was “facing the right way” for an exit. He said: “When you’re right here in the middle of it, it’s the most destructive fire in LA history.

“At the moment there’s about 10 fires going on, the one that’s very close to me is the Runyon Canyon, which is referred to as the Sunset fire. It’s just a couple of miles away. As we know the embers from the fire can just carry miles, literally five six miles.
“We are under evacuation orders at the moment, it’s not mandatory at the moment, but I tell you it’s such a weird feeling when you are packing up the car, we are getting everything ready. You’re going around the house, you are taking photographs, and you’re thinking this may be the last time you actually see the house.
“That’s why your hearts break when you see so many homes – we are talking about a thousand homes and structures gone in the Palisades.” He added: “When you get that feeling it is one of the weirdest and scariest things I have gone through.
“I have never known anything like it in my 25 years here.”
