A crown court has paid its respects to the barrister brother of radio presenter and Strictly star Wynne Evans who has died. Huw Evans was a respected barrister who did much of his work in complex fraud cases including a high-profile case in the Caribbean.
Swansea Crown Court held a minute’s silence in honour of Huw Evans before it sat for business on Thursday. The silence was led by the resident judge of Swansea Paul Thomas KC.
Carmarthen-born Huw Evans – the eldest of three boys – was called to the Bar in 1985 before serving in the Royal Navy. According to his profile at his chambers, 30 Park Place in Cardiff, he completed his pupillage in Swansea before starting to practise in Cardiff in 1989.
He joined 30 Park Place in 2005. The barrister did much of his work in complex fraud cases including a long-running case in the Turks and Caicos Islands where the former premier and members of his cabinet faced charges of fraud, bribery, and corruption.
Announcing his eldest brother’s death on Instagram Wynne Evans said his “big brother” was his “hero and my inspiration”.
