A Rotherham man will appear in court after being charged with 29 sexual offences.
Malcolm Barnes, 66, of Newman Road, has been charged with the crimes, which reportedly took place between 1980 and 2007. He has been charged with rape, assault by penetration, sexual assault, assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by touching, inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16, two counts of gross indecency with a girl under the age of 16 and 20 counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14.
Mr Barnes is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on March 7.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “A Rotherham man has been charged with 29 sexual offences alleged to have taken place between 1980 and 2007.
“Malcolm Barnes, 66, of Newman Road, is charged with rape, assault by penetration, sexual assault, assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16, two counts of gross indecency with a girl under the age of 16 and 20 counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14.
“Barnes will appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on 7 March 2025.”
