The heartbroken family of a 65-year-old woman killed in a Buckhurst Hill crash on Christmas Eve have paid tributes to the ‘vibrant’ woman. Ruth Marina Campos Silva Myers died at the scene of the collision involving another car shortly after 7.30am.
A 20-year-old man and two teenagers – aged 16 and 17 – have been arrested in connection with the death of the London luxury department store worker and are currently on bail. Following her death hours before Christmas Day, Ruth’s family have described her as a ‘vibrant, wonderful and elegant person’.

They said: “Ruth was deeply cherished by her family, friends, and colleagues. No words can truly capture what a special person she was, her dedication to her work at Liberty of London reflected her hardworking nature, but above all, she was the cornerstone of our family.
“She was taken from us far too soon, and her sudden passing is a heartbreaking loss. She leaves behind a cherished husband, loving siblings, and adoring nieces and nephews who will forever hold her in their hearts and will live with the pain of not having her here with us forever.”
Essex Police continues to appeal for any information in connection with the fatal crash. People with CCTV, dash cam or other footage are asked to get in touch, quoting incident 171 of 24 December.
Detective Sergeant Sam Nason said: “My thoughts continue to be with Ruth’s family and friends and they are being supported by specialist officers. We are continuing to appeal for information about the collision and what led up to it.
“In particular, I need anyone who saw or has footage of a grey Jaguar XJ around the time of the collision in Buckhurst Hill and Chingford.”
