Gritters will be sent out on Gloucestershire roads three times as temperatures are forecast to fall to -5C overnight as the cold weather continues. The first gritter run was due to start at 1pm today (Thursday, January 9) and a second at 11pm.
A third run will take place at 3am on Friday, January 10 at 3am. Motorists have been urged to drive with care while on the county roads.
The latest Met Office forecast has temperatures falling to -5C in parts of the county on Friday morning. Some areas in the Cotswolds will not see the temperature go above freezing at all tomorrow, with the Stow-on-the-Wold area dipping below 0C at 7pm today and only returning to 1C for an hour on Saturday at 3pm.
The feels-like temperature could be as low as -7C in the Tewkesbury area in the early hours on tomorrow. Generally, Friday will be partly cloudy with some sunny intervals.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is also looking to be cold with sub-zero lows and daytime highs of around 2C. Sunday could see temperatures climbing to 4C, with highs of 11C by Tuesday after a slightly milder Monday.

Gloucester: Low point of -4C from 1am Friday to 6am; top temperature 2C from 2pm to 4pm
Cheltenham: Low point of -4C from 2am to 5am; top temperature 2C from 1pm to 4pm
Stroud: Low point of -3C from 11pm Thursday to 5am Friday; top temperature 2C from 1pm to 3pm
Tewkesbury: Low point of -5C from 3am to 4am; top temperature 2C from 2pm to 3pm
Coleford: Low point of -4C from 1am to 3am; top temperature 1C from noon to 4pm
Stow-on-the-Wold: Low point of -4C from 2am to 7am; top temperature: 0C from noon to 4am

Today: A frosty and locally icy start with sunny intervals for many throughout the day. Dry for most as wintry showers across Cornwall and Devon fade. Feeling cold, but pleasant in the sun. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Tonight: A dry but cold evening with frost and icy stretches developing. Cloud building overnight with rain and perhaps hill snow arriving for Cornwall and Devon as winds also strengthen. Minimum temperature -2 °C.
Friday: Rain and hill snow spreading across the region but turning increasingly patchy later in the day. Risk of ice on untreated surfaces continues. Another cold day and blustery around coasts. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Rather cloudy on Saturday with patchy rain. Sunnier spells on Sunday and Monday after freezing fog clears. Generally cold over the weekend but turning milder into the new week.
