M6 crash in Birmingham live – three-vehicle crash shuts lanes causing big delays

A three-vehicle crash on the M6 in Birmingham is causing huge delays with two lanes of a carriageway shut. The crash took place between Junction 5 for Castle Bromwich and Erdington and Junction 4a, which links the road with the M42.

Two lorries and a car are said to have collided. Two lanes of the four-lane stretch of motorway have been closed causing five-mile tailbacks. Motorists are said to be being delayed by an hour.

Traffic on the opposite carriageway is also running slowly. This is said to be due to onlookers passing the scene. The stretch is the busiest on the motorway network throughout the West Midlands.

National Highways West Midlands has said traffic officers and recovery agents are working to clear the scene. BirminghamLive has approached the emergency services for updates.
