A rapist has been jailed after his entire sickening attack was recorded on his victim’s phone. Nzar Salah stalked his victim for hours before pouncing.
She was walking in Crewe one day last summer when Salah, 28, approached her. He followed her and harassed her for hours, before committing the sustained attack, police said.
Chester Crown Court heard the victim reported the incident to police, before Salah was arrested. Police later established that prior to the attack, the victim was suspicious of his behaviour, so started an audio recorder on her phone, fearing for her safety.
Cops later discovered the entire attack had been recorded on the victim’s phone. The audio file became crucial evidence in the case. A jury convicted Salah, of Derrington Avenue, Crewe, of three counts of rape following a 14-day trial.
He has now been jailed for 15 years. Following the case, Detective Superintendent Helena Banusic, said: “I would first like to commend the victim for her bravery and courage shown throughout this case, and I hope this result will provide her some closure after what she has had to endure.
“What Salah did to the victim is deplorable, and then he put her through the trauma of having to relive the experience by way of a trial. Securing justice for the victim and ensuring the local community is safeguarded from this dangerous and depraved individual has been our number one priority throughout this investigation.
“In addition, as Salah is originally from Iraq, we will now be starting the process to enable him to be deported once he has served his sentence.”
