Man dies at agricultural firm’s depot as investigation launched

A driver has died in an incident at an agricultural firm’s depot. Wynnstay confirmed one of its drivers died after being involved in an incident at its Llansantffraid site in Powys on Monday, January 6.

Dyfed Powys Police confirmed the force was called to the scene at around 6.20am that morning where a man died. In a statement, a spokesperson for Wynnstay said it was an “extremely difficult time for all involved”.

They said: “We can confirm that one of Wynnstay’s drivers was involved in a tragic fatality on Monday. Since then, we have been working with the police and others to provide all the assistance we can.

“We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. It is an extremely difficult time for all involved. We will not be making any further public comment on the matter at this point in time.”

The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation alongside Dyfed Powys Police. The force confirmed the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Dyfed-Powys Police, in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive, is investigating a sudden death at the Wynnstay Depot in Llansantffraid. Emergency services were called to the scene just after 6.20am yesterday morning, Monday 6 January, where it was confirmed that a man had sadly passed away.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. The death is not being treated as suspicious, but enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

“We ask that the family’s privacy is respected as the investigation continues.” Wynnstay, which supplies agricultural products, operates 52 depots across Wales and England.
