Staffordshire Police has issued a fresh set of images of men its officers would like to speak to in connection with the Tamworth hotel riot last August. A disturbance took place at the Holiday Inn Express off Riverdrive in the town on the evening of Sunday, August 4 last year.
A number of people protested about the hotel being used for asylum seekers, days after three girls were stabbed to death in Southport. But the protest turned violent, with petrol bombs and bricks thrown at the venue causing damage and police and counter-protestors also coming under attack.
There have already been a number of arrests and convictions in connection with the incident but now Staffordshire Police has issued 17 more CCTV images of men its officers would like to speak to in connection with the violence.

In its appeal on a public portal, Staffordshire Police said: “We have stepped up efforts to robustly investigate both incidents of violent disorder across Staffordshire in Tamworth and Stoke on the weekend of August 3 and 4. A dedicated team of detectives has been tasked with finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.
“Drone surveillance, body-worn video and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) has gathered footage of people involved in incidents that took place in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday (3 August) and Tamworth on Sunday (4 August).
“Using our own surveillance, as well as a vast array of videos that have been shared on social media, we’re continuing to trawl rigorously through the evidence to take robust action against those involved. As part of this investigation, we’ve set up a major incident public portal (MIPP).
“We want people to share all the information they have with us using this portal, which can be accessed here. Our officers have been acting valiantly to protect the public. A number of them have been assaulted, which is completely unacceptable. Thankfully, none of their injuries are serious.”
