The Chase fans were left seething after an ‘overly simple question’ was dished out to Jenny Ryan. In the latest installment of the hit ITV quiz show, contestants John and Tracy made a strong attempt at The Vixen, also known as Jenny Ryan.
With 17 questions answered correctly, they almost had her beaten. But a straightforward query near the climax of the show on Thursday (January 9 ,led to some disgruntled viewers.
As the game neared its end and the pressure was on, host Bradley Walsh posed a seemingly basic question to The Vixen: “What term refers to knives, forks, and spoons collectively? ” Ryan’s prompt response “cutlery” sparked immediate backlash online.

Fans didn’t hesitate to voice their disapproval on social media platforms. One viewer irritably remarked: “The strongest chaser who rarely gets beat is asked what’s the collective name for knives, forks and spoons pfft,” showing clear annoyance at the perceived imbalance in question difficulty.
In a tone of astonishment, another viewer commented, “What term is referred to knives forks and spoons collectively? My god.”, reports the Mirror.
A third fan openly voiced their suspicion with exasperation: “Running out of time, so bring out questions as easy as what makes up cutlery,” and shared a telling captioned image: “This game is rigged, man.”
Another viewer was left in disbelief, commenting: “As if one of the questions she got was the collective term for spoons, knives and forks.”
In a nail-biting moment, Jenny managed to beat the duo just in time. The Chase episode also featured 19 year old law enthusiast Anousha who, despite a strong start with six correct answers in her cash builder, was caught by Jenny before making it to the final chase.
Hanish, 54, also couldn’t add £5,000 to the team’s pot. After defeating John and Tracy, Jenny stressed the importance of facing a full squad in the game’s climax, saying: “Particularly Anousha, she would have been very fast in that final and just picked up a couple where you were letting the energy drop a little bit.”
