A brand new day club has been launched to help older persons socialise in Garstang.
Age UK Lancashire has announced a brand new Day Club which provides a space for the older generation to connect, socialise and engage in activities. It will officially open its doors on Tuesday, January 28 and will be located at the United Reformed Church.
On the day of opening between 10am and 2pm, Age UK will offer a sneak peek into the Day Club’s activities and show what it has to offer.
This includes opportunities for attendees to interact and build friendships, engage in a variety of simulating activities, enjoy a safe and supportive environment and also enjoy a hot two-course meal.
Age UK already offers Day Clubs in Lancashire, with locations in Ormskirk, Lancaster and Nelson. It costs £48 for a standard full day and £76.90 for an enhanced full day.
They sessions “offer a range of activities which build confidence, promote independence, maintain cognitive functioning and most importantly, are meaningful and engaging”.
Pam and Amy from Age UK will be distributing letters around Garstang to spread the word of the new Day Club. Regular sessions will take place every Tuesday after the open day.
Diane Armstrong, from Age UK Lancashire’s Day Services team, shared her enthusiasm for the new venture: “We are delighted to bring this Day Club to Garstang.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to provide older adults with a space where they can enjoy meaningful connections and activities in a warm and supportive environment.”
