A plan has been lodged to convert an office building into 75 apartments in Edgbaston. The seven storey Zurich Insurance block at 126 Hagley Road could turned into one and two bedroomed homes if the scheme is approved by planners.
An application has been submitted to Birmingham City Council to to determine if prior approval is required for a proposed change of use from Commercial, Business & Service to homes. The application site benefits from two vehicle access points off Hagley Road and more than 90 car parking spaces. It is not subject to a Tree Protection Order, not a listed building, not located within a conservation area, but is located next to the western boundary of the Edgbaston conservation area.
Buildings within conservation areas are subject to stricter planning controls. It is also well served by bus stops along the Hagley Road, is a 10 minute walk to Edgbaston Village Metro Stop and a 20 minute walk to Five Ways station. Edgbaston Reservoir is also a short distance away.
