I have the heating on first thing in the morning, every single morning. Without it, I simply wouldn’t be able to get out of bed and my landlord would have to evict me for rent arrears. Even then, they’d have to carry me out of the house, still tucked into bed.
I’m the kind of girl that simply cannot be cold. I’m also the kind of girl that can’t afford to have the heating on all day every day – a quandary.
As such, I’m always looking for new ideas of ways to stay warm, especially on days where I work from home. Ideally, I’ll only have the heating on for an hour or two first thing, and it won’t come on again until tea time.

I happened to find the perfect solution just before Christmas. Colleagues had raved about the Oodie, but even when it was on sale, I’d struggle to spend that kind of cash on something I won’t be wearing outside. I needed an alternative.
And so after much research, I settled on a OneSnug. The hooded blankets were down to £30 each or £27 if you bought two, so I did just that, one for me, one as a gift. Right now, they’re £25 and it says that’s cut down from £69.95.
There were a few reasons it lured me in. It promised to be 30% longer than ‘others’, and even as I stand at 5ft9, it reaches my knees. Sitting down at my desk and it goes right down past my shins.
I had worried that the fluffy, sherpa fleece interior would shed little fibres that would get in my eyes and up my nose and settle on my lip balm (that’s my worst nightmare) but it’s done no such thing. It’s unbelievably soft but quite heavy, like wearing my duvet.
The other thing that appealed to me were the ribbed cuffs. When I’m typing (or eating cereal) I don’t want to be constantly trying to prevent my sleeves from getting in the way.
I can wear my OneSnug when I’m doing the washing up and my sleeves roll right up, no problem. There’s a huge hoodie pocket on the front too, which comes in handy for my phone.
The hooded blankets come in a range of colours and a few different patterns, dogs, pandas and polka dots that are far less appealing than the Oodies that have official partnerships with the likes of Pokemon, Paddington and Marvel.
More than all of this, though, the OneSnug does exactly what I need it to: It keeps me toasty warm all day long when I’m working from home. In fact, it’s so effective, I have to take it off when I’m having my morning coffee, because I overheat. Who needs the heating?!
