London temperatures have plummeted this week with last night marking the coldest night of Winter so far. It reached as low as -5C in the capital early this morning.
Those of us who are thinking that the cold spell has no end in sight will be glad to hear that things should start looking up towards the end of the week. The BBC has forecast when temperatures should start to slowly climb up again in London.
Tomorrow (Saturday, January 11) will see the cold spell continue with temperatures of 3C. forecast. There will be “extensive and thick fog”, although limited bright spells will develop.
Sunday (January 12) should see the start of some milder weather as temperatures reach 4C. There could also be a spell of clear skies and sun between 1pm and 4pm.
However, Monday (January 13) is forecast to be when things really start to warm up as temperatures reach 7C. Tuesday (January 14) should then see these climb up to 10C and on Wednesday (January 15) they could reach 11C.
The milder weather will then settle in for the foreseeable. Temperatures are forecast at 9C for the next eight days.
The Met Office says: “Sunday will be another dry day with a mix of variable cloud and bright spells, these most frequent in the afternoon. Patchy mist and fog are likely to linger around in the morning. A touch milder. It is expected to be a mild, bright and dry day on Monday. The winds will remain gentle. Tuesday looks to be a settled day but becomes increasingly cloudy. Mild.”
