The third series of hit BBC game show, The Traitors, is officially underway, with over five million viewers tuning in on New Year’s Day to meet the new set of contestants.
But this year, fans of the show will be treated to an extra series, as the BBC confirmed that a celebrity edition is set to air in 2025.
A release date has not yet been announced for Celebrity Traitors, nor any celebrity contestants confirmed, but speculation is swirling as to which famous faces may take part.
And a rumoured shortlist for the all-star series was shared on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend by Super TV, an account which claims to bring followers the latest TV news, as well as “iconic pop culture highlights and opinions”.
Among the list of well-known names are two famous siblings from Gloucestershire – Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper, creators of the popular documentary-style comedy show, This Country, all about life growing up in the Cotswolds.
Last month, the brother-sister duo were given 1/2 odds by betting site, SportsCasting.com, to appear together on Celebrity Traitors, following the success of mother and son pairing, Diane and Ross, in the 2024 series of the show.
And fans on X have been reacting to the Cooper siblings once again being linked to the show, saying they would be “sensational”.
One person wrote: “Daisy May Cooper will be sensational on this if true.”. Another added: “The Daisy May Cooper round table performance may be the greatest thing that will ever grace British telly.”
And a third commented: “Even though I think one of the most interesting parts of The Traitors is no one knowing each other (excluding couples & family members), I can’t help but be excited at the thought of Charlie and Daisy May Cooper being on the show.”
For those unfamiliar with the format, the show features 22 participants in a Scottish castle, three of whom are traitors. The remaining contestants, known as the Faithful, must identify the traitors and expel them to claim the prize money of up to £120,000.
The traitors must stay under the radar while attempting to sabotage tasks to prevent the Faithful from winning tools like Shields – which protect contestants from being assassinated by the traitors. Each night, the traitors get to kill a Faithful.
If a single traitor remains in the game, they walk away with all the prize money. Details about Celebrity Traitors are currently sparse, with the broadcaster only revealing that it will air in 2025 and consist of nine episodes, reports Bristol Live.
Meanwhile, other names that have been attached to the celebrity series of the game show so far are as follows:
- Bob Mortimer
- Jennifer Saunders
- Alan Carr
- Paloma Faith
- Tom Daley
- Richard Osman
- Clare Balding
- Robert Peston
- Stephen Fry
