Coronation Street star Sam Aston has detailed a huge backstage change for him following a plethora of exits from the cobbles. Over the past few weeks, fans of the long-running ITV soap have learnt a number of well-known faces will be leaving.
In December, Weatherfield residents said farewell to Gail Platt (Helen Worth) after five decades. However, her departure was only the start.
Since then, names including Sue Cleaver, Sue Devaney, Lisa George, Colson Smith and Daisy Midgeley have all announced they’ll be leaving the soap.
Although the string of exits may be disheartening for viewers, it’s good news for some members of the cast. During Friday’s instalment of Loose Women, actor Sam Aston spoke about saying goodbye to his co-stars and what it means for him.
