Kelyan Bokassa was due in court over machete offence

Kelyan Bokassa was stabbed on the 472 bus on Woolwich Church Street in front of terrified passengers on Tuesday.

Court documents reveal the teen was due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

It was alleged he was in possession of a machete at Ravensbourne College on May 3 last year.

Kelyan had also been previously convicted of stealing coats from John Lewis in Westfield, for which he got a youth referral order.

Keylan’s mum said she was not surprised when her son was killed, claiming he was groomed by gangs from the age of six.

“I feel hurt because I tried to prevent it. I’ve tried so many, so many times. I screamed it, I said ‘my son is going to be killed’,” Mary Bokassa said.

Keylan was an aspiring drill rapper who went by the name Grippa.

He released a song on YouTube called “Bangers N Mash” on Christmas Day.

Daejaun Campbell, 15, was stabbed to death in Eglinton Road, Woolwich, on September 22 last year, less than a mile-and-a-half away from where Kelyan was killed.

The Metropolitan Police said that no links have been established between the two and the investigation is at an early stage.

There was also a non-fatal stabbing at around 4.20pm on Monday in Prince Imperial Road, Woolwich, which led to an 18-year-old man being admitted to hospital. It is not thought to be linked to Tuesday’s murder.
