86 Lloyds and Halifax banks to close in 2025 – including eight in West Midlands

Two banking giants plan to close 86 sites this year – many of which are in the West Midlands. Bank closures have become a routine part of life on the high street, and that looks set to continue in 2025.

Lloyds Bank and Halifax alone are set to close 86 sites in the UK. This comes as more than 6,000 high street banks and building society branches have closed in just over a decade.

In the West Midlands specifically, we will be losing eight branches in a matter of months. Lloyds branches in Alcester, Kitts Green, Kenilworth and Warwick – all in the first half of this year.

We will be losing just as many Halifax branches. Among those to to are Shirley, which shut this week, Tamworth, Telford and Stratford-upon-Avon.

This has become a routine trends as customers have switched online. They are increasingly turning apps to manage their finances while banks and building societies look for ways to cut costs.

NatWest Group has closed the highest number of branches, with Lloyds Banking Group tailing behind. Here is the full list of banks shutting in 2025, as well as their closure dates:
