Households could cut their energy bills by changing the times they carry out key tasks around the house. This includes things like using the washing machine, cooking and taking a shower.
These are some of the tasks that use most energy around the house, along with using the heating. Those who can have been encouraged to consider off-peak tariffs if it works for them.

The best times to do this are generally overnight between 10pm and 8am when there is less pressure on the system. People will likely find they can do tasks for cheaper in this time period.
Heating the home during these times can also make financial sense, particularly if the weather is comfortable enough to not need the heating on all day. A blast of warmth early in the morning could heat the home and save cash.
It comes as gas and electricity costs continue to be a huge burden on households after they went up again in January. Les Roberts, energy expert at Bionic, said: “Only heating up your home when you need to can be done by simply setting the timer on the thermostat to start the heating at certain times or consider a time of use tariff that offers cheaper rates at certain times.
“On this point, it may also be worth switching to a time of use tariff or off-peak tariff, where the price of energy will be lower at times when the grid is under less pressure and demand is lowest, which tends to be between 10pm-8am.”
