BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty snaps at Saturday Kitchen host after awkward blunder

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty didn’t hesitate to call out a blunder on Saturday Kitchen during the Saturday (January 11) broadcast.

Hosting alongside Charlie Stayt, the pair were running through the morning’s headlines when they linked up with Saturday Kitchen’s Matt Tebbutt for a preview of the show, reports the Express.

The interaction took an awkward turn as a cameraman mistakenly switched to the incorrect view, unintentionally revealing a guest. Quick to notice, Naga questioned: “What you think, Helen and your guests… Is that Emilia Fox? “.

Matt, clearly irritated, responded: “Oh don’t give it away. Do you know how this works?” To which Naga retorted: “Well I do but did your director know how it works because they cut to a three shot.”

Naga pointed out the mistake further, saying: “Your director did cut to a three shot and we did see Emilia, while they were laughing at you and not with you.”

The set erupted in laughter, and Matt quipped back: “Well thank you. Should I even announce that guest now that it’s spoiled?”

Facing his guest, Matt added: “Our special guest today is the wonderful Emilia Fox. Yeah, thank you what a surprise that was.”

He proceeded to ask Emelia about her preferences for the episode’s food segment, saying: “It’s lovely to have you back. Food heaven, food hell at the end of the show – what is it this time?”

Emilia divulged her culinary preferences, saying: “My heaven would be something with white fish and ginger and lemon grass or something like that because it’s fresh. Hell would be something heavy like red meat, steak or anything with blue cheese because I’m not a fan of blue cheese.”

After detailing the upcoming segments, Matt added: “Well there you go, there is a lot going on.” Back at the studio, Naga couldn’t help but tease with a chuckle: “You look like you’re really in control there Matt.”

This prompted an outbreak of laughter, as Matt responded: “Again that’s another telly insider there. I was holding it together, thank you very much.”

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
