Released nearly three decades ago, Jim Carrey’s 1997 comedy Liar Liar has soared into Netflix’s top ten trending movies.
Currently ranking at number nine, nestled just under the platform’s latest gripping thriller Carry-On, Liar Liar emerged during what many consider to be Carrey’s golden era. Prior to this flick, he had already made his mark with iconic roles in The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.
Despite following several wildly successful films, fans continue to herald Liar Liar as their favourite Carrey movie.
The plot centres on Fletcher Reede (played by Carrey), a serial fibber and lawyer who suddenly finds himself unable to tell anything but the truth for an entire day.

Directed by Tom Shadyac, who also directed Carrey in Bruce Almighty, the comedy not only claimed the People’s Choice Award for Favourite Comedy Motion Picture in 1998 but was a hit at the box office, pulling in $31,423 in its debut weekend, reports the Daily Record.
With over 343,000 reviews on IMDB, cinema enthusiasts continue to heap praise on the comedy, with some labelling it as Carrey’s crowning performance.
A particularly avid fan commented: “[This is] Jim Carrey’s best film. Liar Liar is in my top 3 favourite comedies of all time and my favourite Jim Carrey flick! He was just so awesome and hilarious in Liar Liar!
“Not only did he do mental comedy, but physical comedy that will make your stomach hurt from laughing so much! I’m not kidding when I say that I know a dozen people where we just rehearse the lines from Liar Liar back and forth, because all the scenes are just so memorable,” they added.
