Saturday Kitchen’s Matt Tebbutt certainly didn’t hold back as he said ‘don’t say it’ following the stir caused by his wardrobe choice on today’s (January 11) instalment of the beloved BBC programme.
In this morning’s episode, Matt, accompanied by guests Helen McGinn and Emilia Fox, was dishing out some of his renowned culinary delights.
However, it wasn’t just the food that caught everyone’s attention in the studio and among viewers at home; Matt’s decision to don a black zip-up hoodie for a more relaxed look became the centre of distraction, reports the Express.
When Helen pulled a face, Matt queried: “Wow, wow, wow what was that face for?” To which Helen confessed: “You know I’m about to say something I don’t want to but I’m going to say it anyway.”

Matt’s retort was swift: “Well don’t. Don’t say it. If you’ve got nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all.”
Helen disclosed: “There has been a poll asking if your top screams midlife crisis or not and at the moment 60% say it’s on the wrong side of midlife crisis.”
Unperturbed by the poll’s result, Matt walked off with a quip: “Just wait till I get an earring.”
Back home, viewers rapidly took to social media to voice their opinions. One fan quipped on X, previously known as Twitter: “#SaturdayKitchen .. Hmm, are all Matt Tebbutt’s clothes…in the wash?” While another viewer remarked: “Matt has hoodie on or you could say cardigan wi hood n zip no drama #SaturdayKitchen.” (sic)
Not everyone was put off by the casual attire, with one fan defending: “He’s wearing a hoodie….so what. He’s not presenting the news. #SaturdayKitchen.” (sic)

In a slightly uncomfortable moment before the live show, hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt linked to Saturday Kitchen as Matt Tebbutt tried to tease what was in store for viewers.
The segment turned awkward as the cameraman mistakenly showed the wrong feed, flaunting one of today’s guests prematurely. Naga called out: “What you think, Helen and your guests… Is that Emilia Fox?”
Matt responded: “Oh don’t give it away. Do you know how this works?” To which Naga retorted: “Well I do but did your director know how it works because they cut to a three shot.”
She continued, pressing the point: “Your director did cut to a three shot and we did see Emilia, while they were laughing at you and not with you.”
Saturday Kitchen airs from 10am on BBC One and iPlayer
