Masked Singer’s Maya Jama addresses baby plans and TV future amid Ruben Dias ‘romance’

Maya Jama has opened up about her television future and hopes for a family amid reports she is dating a Premier League footballer.

The Bristol-born star joined the panel of The Masked Singer after pop star Rita Ora quit the show. It comes as reports suggested the Love Island presenter could be set to walk away from television when she turns 40.

But the 30-year-old has since said that’s not quite the case, and she simply asked her financial advisors whether she could be in a position to retire in a decade. Maya subsequently found out she would be in a position to call it a day if she continues working at the same rate she is now.

While the star says that “would be great,” she also feels an air of responsibility to her family. She explained: “I am the breadwinner of my family, so being the older sibling, and being the one in this career, I pay everyone’s bills and I give everybody money, so it’s quite a big responsibility.”

Maya is currently rumoured to be dating Manchester City defender Ruben Dias, 27. The pair are said to have met at the European Music Awards while the Spanish international was injured.

Maya recently shared a cryptic post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, as fans reacted to the rumours. The star wrote online: “Oh.. [laughing face emoji] but .. [shrugged shoulders emoji].”

Ruben, who previously dated former Love Island contestant Arabella Chi, 33, even posted a picture, which was thought to be of Maya, earlier this month. In the Instagram shot, the footballer can be seen cosying up to a woman wearing a camouflage skirt and trainers.

Amid reports of the new romance, Maya, who split from her ex-boyfriend Stormzy last July, addressed having children in the future. She told The Guardian she wants a “family”, as opposed to simply children.

Adding: “Because of the way I was raised and it being all over the place, I’m very conscious that if I start a family I want it to be with the right person. I want it to be one that lasts forever.”

Maya will return to The Masked Singer alongside fellow panellists Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, and Mo Gilligan at 7pm tonight. The hit ITV show sees the panel trying to figure out which famous faces are singing while disguised completely in fancy dress.
