Dancing On Ice host Holly Willoughby’s ‘eye-opening’ transformation after alternative treatment

Holly Willoughby experienced an “eye-opening” moment that left her “more in touch with herself” after trying alternative therapies.

Holly says she was away from her friends and family in 2018 presenting I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in Australia when she realised she had a rare moment of downtime. It led Holly to exploring the area around where she was staying.

The Dancing on Ice presenter says she found herself walking along the streets of Australia when she was surrounded by alternative therapies such as reflexology or kinesiology, a type of muscle therapy used to look for “imbalances in the body”.

Holly, 43, says she decided to “try everything” and while some of it “felt strange” there was one moment with a kinesiologist that stood out to her. And it prompted a change in her outlook when she returned back home to London.

In an unearthed chat with Elizabeth Day on the How to Fail podcast, Holly said: “There was one lady that I met and she was a kinesiologist, and it transpired quite quickly that whatever you believe, it felt to me that there was something more than traditional kinesiology going on.

“It was like an emotional body test type thing and she was saying things and my body was reacting. I felt this kind of unzipping of my chest and this opening and it was a bit like Pandora’s box because once it had it was like I couldn’t put it all back in the organised chaos that I had packaged it all up for a long time.

“It was eye-opening, and when I came back to London I thought ‘well something happened there and probably, I’ve got the time and headspace in order to just go with this a little bit more. And the more I did it, whether it was alternative therapies, or more traditional therapy, the better I felt and the more in control of things I felt, and the more in touch with myself I felt.
