Birmingham drivers reported as police seize car for putting public ‘at risk’

Birmingham police officers seized a car on Saturday night, January 11, after multiple members of the public were ‘put at risk.’ The grey Toyota was pictured by Bordesley Green officers parked vertically across a pavement in Birmingham.

Officers said “multiple pedestrians were put at risk” by the driver of the car, who appeared to have abandoned the vehicle across the whole pavement. However as they seized the vehicle, police reported a separate driver for an offence after spotting something unusual at the traffic lights.

The motorist, unrelated to the driver who parked on the pavement, was allegedly using their mobile phone while at the lights – in front of police.

Bordesley Green Police took to X on January 11 to share details of the reported offences, and a picture of the car. A Bordesley Green Police spokesperson said: “This vehicle was recovered for obstructing the highway.

“Multiple pedestrians were put at risk. Whilst waiting for recovery, another driver thought it would be a good idea to use his mobile phone whilst waiting at the lights. He was reported for the offence.”
