Escape to the Chateau won over the audience as it traced Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree’s adventurous renovation of the majestic 19th-century Chateau de la Motte-Husson in France.
The endearing show documented the couple’s journey of transforming the chateau, while also managing the intricacies of raising their young children, Arthur and Dorothy, and kicking off a business for weddings and events. Following an enthralling spell from 2016 to 2022 on Channel 4, the couple reached a touching resolution that the time had come to “walk away”.
Nonetheless, the ambitious engineer and designer pair continued to chase dreams with their tour called Forever Home.
Upon their recent return to Britain with this tour, Dick and Angel have hinted at a possible comeback for Escape to the Chateau on television. They divulged some details and stressed the importance of right timing for the show’s cessation.
Dick said: “The thing is, Escape to the Chateau is a year-long project for every season, and Arthur starts senior school, Dorothy is in her last year before she moves, and that change in the children was the rationale. He further explained: “Because we had back in 2022 huge conversations saying, before they get all the pressures that young people have in their lives on them, it was time for us to walk away from the escape. That’s why we did it.”

“We told everybody at the beginning of 2022 because it had to be done. That’s why we have the big party at the end of 2022, literally because it was so, so important that Arthur and Dorothy do the transition into senior school with all the pressure they have with puberty and social media and everything else.”, reports Devon Live.
“And that has been good because for Arthur, I think the pressure has been off for a bit, hasn’t it,” he observed, looking towards his spouse. “I worry more a bit more about Dorothy, actually,” Angel conveyed her concerns before concurring with Dick on their resolution to step back from Escape to the Chateau.

“It was exactly the right decision to make because they had never… since we moved here, they’ve had the cameras here all year round and it was just exactly the right thing to do.”
“What we’re not against, we haven’t sort of hid them away from the media. They love it, they’re in the books and they come on tour.”
