Sainsburys has announced a 5% pay increase for hourly-paid employees, which will be implemented throughout 2025.
Pay will increase twice throughout the year – once in March and again in August.
If you’re London-based this means your hourly wage will increase from £13.15 to £13.85 in the next eight months.
Over a year this is an extra £1,100 for a full-time hourly-paid colleague.
Simon Roberts, Chief Executive of Sainsbury’s, said: “We believe in rewarding our colleagues well for delivering leading service and productivity and we will be the best paying UK grocer from March.”

Delivery driver roles
There are home delivery driver roles available across London paying £14.65 an hour. For this you’ll have to be over 18 and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months, with no more than 6 points on it
You’ll also need to be comfortable lifting and moving containers of up to 15kg in weight.
Customer and Trading Manager roles

Customer Experience Manger roles
Hiring for both junior and senior managers across London, these roles starts from £30,250 to £37,200. You’ll be managing a medium to large store team to deliver improved retail performance for your store.
Food Manager roles
Again starting from £30,250, there are several food manager roles open across Sainsbury’s London stores. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of your area and managing your store’s food produce.
Store Manager roles
There are store manager roles available in Richmond and Westminster paying upwards of £37,400. These roles involve managing up to two convenience stores, or one large store. You need leadership experience for this one, as the successful applicants will be responsible for the success of their respective stores.
