Dancing on Ice fans were left majorly distracted from the ice skating action as they took issue with the show’s format. The competition returned for its 17th series on Sunday night, but was immediately met by complaints about the number of ad breaks.
Viewers fumed there were more adverts than there was skating on the show as they took to X to moan. One wrote: “Amongst all the adverts is a TV show lasting about 30 minutes #DancingOnIce.”
“There are more advert breaks than the actual show itself,” a second echoed, while a third agreed: “More breaks than skating.”

A fourth begged: “Stop with the breaks!!! skate break skate break! I don’t want to save with MoneySupermarket, I just want to f****** watch Dancing on Ice.”
“As many ad breaks as ever. one dance then a break yawn fest #dancingonice,” a fifth commented, while a sixth added: “Here we go with the first if the many, many ad breaks #advertsonice #DancingOnIce.”
The first show saw the first six celebrities take to the ice, opening with a performance from Coronation Street’s Sam Aston and his pro partner Molly. Former TOWIE star Ferne McCann and her partner Brendyn were second up, followed by Hollyoaks actress Chelsee Healey and Andy.
Footballer Anton Ferdinand and Annette skated next, followed by wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan and her partner Mark. Love Island’s Chris Taylor and Vanessa were last to perform before voting opened.
None of the stars will be sent home this week, with the first eviction taking place next weekend after all the celebrities have performed. Those taking to the ice next week are: BBC The Traitors finalist Mollie Pearce, Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave, EastEnders star Charlie Brooks, Comedian Josh Jones, and TOWIE star Dan Edgar.
Dancing on Ice returns next Sunday night on ITV1.
