Thousands of British Gas customers can get half price electricity this week. Customers can get the discounted energy between 11.30pm and 1.30pm on New Year’s Eve.
New and existing customers on any tariff can take advantage of the offer – but you will need a smart meter. Usually, customers are rewarded through the energy form’s popular Peak Save scheme if they shift their usage to off-peak times.
But tomorrow’s offer is known as a Green Flex event. It will reward customers who opt in with half price electricity when there is surplus renewable energy available in the grid.

It comes as heavy and persistent snow, as well as very strong gales are set to batter the UK this week. British Gas said it had emailed eligible customers, The Sun reports.
You will need to click a link and opt in to do so. After each event, British Gas will credit half of what you spent back to your account.
The payment will show up as ‘PeakSave Green Flex Credit’ on your next bill or online statement. This credit will normally appear within two weeks of each event ending.
There is no obligation to change your normal routine. But the more you can shift regular activities, the more you could save more off energy bills.
