Hackney shooting: Two men left with gunshot wounds and one stabbed as attackers on the run

Police are investigating a shooting in Hackney which left two men injured and another stabbed.

Those responsible for the shooting are believed to be in the run, with police called to the scene of the shooting on Saturday, January 11, at 22.35pm. Officers attended the scene along with London’s Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service. Investigations from the force are underway, but no motivation for the offences has yet been given.

No arrests have been made yet and the identities of the suspects have yet to be released. Medics treated a 27-year-old man at the scene, who had sustained gunshot wounds outside Homerton Station.

Another two men were treated at the scene, aged 28 and 29, who were injured on Gascoyne Road. One received a gunshot wound and the other had been stabbed. Neither are said to be in a life-threatening condition as a result of the shooting or stabbing attack.

Superintendent Brigid Beehag-Fisher, of Hackney and Tower Hamlets Police, said: “This incident shows the casual disregard by some for the safety of our communities. Our investigation teams are working hard to understand the circumstances behind this incident and identify those responsible.

“Over the coming days there will be increased police presence in the area. I would ask anyone with any information about this offence to speak to any of these officers or call police on 101 with reference 6958/11Jan.”

The investigation comes as police also deal with the aftermath of a tragic tow truck incident elsewhere in the city. The Mirror previously reported the unrelated incident, where Safia Ali was struck and killed in south London by a tow truck before she was hit by a car.

Following the incident, the Met Police said officers were called at 6:49pm on October 1 following reports of a collision on Brixton Road near the junction with Handforth Road in south London.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, Ms Ali, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin were informed and were supported by specialist officers, police said.

A man who was arrested for failing to stop at the scene of an accident and causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed pending further inquiries.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said in October: “We were called at 6.50pm yesterday (Tuesday 1 October) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Handforth Road and Brixton Road, SW9.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first of our crews arrived in five minutes. Our crews treated a woman. Sadly despite the best efforts of emergency services, she died at the scene.”
