Traffic is building up on the M6, the longest motorway in Britain, in the Stoke-on-Trent area after a truck overturned this morning.

At least one person was injured and had to be freed from the tipped-over lorry between Junction 17 and 18. Police were called to the scene at around 3.55am, but officials doubt the traffic will clear anytime soon, with normal conditions not expected until 10.45am.

Traffic cameras show a build-up by J17 (Sandbach/Congleton) as three of the four lanes are closed.

Things aren’t exactly any better on the train tracks. Amid a raft of Met Office amber and yellow weather warnings for rain, wind and snow, National Rail says the poor weather will impact journeys until Thursday.

Among them is ScotRail, where speed restrictions have been implemented on several routes – just in time for rush hour. Over on the London Underground, various lines as well as the Elizabeth Line and Overground routes are running on reduced service or part-closed.
