A ‘Boogie Lights Express’ steam train is coming to West Midlands where you can dance and sing

A new ‘Boogie Lights Express’ train is coming and you’re invited to jump aboard and dance the night away. The event, being hosted on the Severn Valley Railway, will feature a soundtrack of iconic tunes spanning the 1960s to present day together with thousands of LED lights to create a ‘kaleidoscope’ of colours and sounds.

Every guest will be given an LED wristband so they can help make the steam train look ‘magical both inside and out’. Revellers will get to bop away to classics from Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Queen and Rihanna.

Each carriage will have a ‘canopy of lights’ and there will be an interactive show hosted by the legendary ‘Voiceover Man’ (as heard on Britain’s Got Talent and X-Factor). You can compete against each other with the singalong “FlashyOke” game.

The Boogie Lights Express is being put together to celebrate Severn Valley Railway’s 60th anniversary. There’s a whole host of events being planned for the year. This one runs on Friday and Saturday evenings from February 28 to March 29.

A spokesman for Severn Valley Railway said: “It’s our 60th anniversary and Railway 200, so we’ve got plenty of reasons to celebrate! Suitable for all the family, the Boogie Lights Express is an incredible sound and light show, consisting of thousands of coloured LED lights and LED wristbands, creating a kaleidoscope of different colours and flashing patterns.

“This makes the steam train look magical both inside and out! Be part of the show, with your very own LED wristband, adding to the magic on-board the train, and its yours to keep after the event.

“The LED wristbands, which synchronise with the music on board the train and the sparkling ‘canopy of lights’ in every carriage, means you’re part of the show, making it impossible to stay seated! Sing, dance and cheer on this musical party train – perfect for a night out with friends and family.”

Find out more and book tickets via the Severn Valley Railway website. Trains will depart from Kidderminster Station at 6pm or 8pm, with the train ride lasting for approximately 70 minutes.
