In a statement, West Mercia Police said: “A Telford man has been jailed for seven years for possession of a firearm. Endean Palmer, 34, of Hammerfields, Woodside, Telford, was handed the sentence at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Friday, January 10, following a trial last year.
“In November 2024, he was found guilty of possession of a firearm without a certificate, possession of ammunition, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified. Palmer was arrested on 13 May 2024 on Queen Street in Madeley after he was seen driving while disqualified. He initially made off from officers but was quickly found and detained.”
Speaking after the case, Detective Constable Dawn Tigwell said: “This is a substantial sentence which shows how seriously the police and courts take firearms offences. I’m pleased that we’ve been able to help protect our communities, not only by taking a lethal weapon off the streets but also by stopping a dangerous driver from being behind the wheel.”
Police would encourage anyone with information about weapons in communities to report it to them. Alternatively, anyone who has information but doesn’t feel comfortable speaking to the police can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
