Gary Barlow, the Take That superstar, once made a surprise appearance on Heartbeat, leaving fans in awe.
The singer, known for hits like Shine and Relight My Fire, has been a part of Take That since its inception in the 1990s with Robbie Williams, and continues to be a key member alongside Howard Donald and Mark Owen.
Beloved TV drama Heartbeat, a popular Sunday afternoon show set in 1960s North Yorkshire, aired on ITV1 for 18 years. In one particular episode in 1999 a young Gary Barlow played the role of hitchhiker Micky Shannon in the show’s special 150th episode.
He even performed All That I’ve Given Away from his 1999 album Twelve Months, Eleven Days. However, Gary later admitted that the role was neither successful nor profitable, describing it as ‘one of the worst things I’ve ever done’ and revealing he earns about 78p per year in royalties.
Speaking about his cameo, Gary once said: “Oh f**** hell. I swear that thing will not leave me. It’s funny, when it gets repeated on something like Gold I get a cheque.”
“And, I got one this year for 78p, so it wasn’t even a financial decision. It was just one of the worst things I’ve ever done, it really was.”
