I’m a homeworker and Amazon’s walking pad treadmill transformed my routine – it’s now £120 off

A few months ago I couldn’t imagine buying a treadmill to go on walks in my own home, but now I can’t envision not having the handy gadget next to my desk. It’s without a doubt one of my favourite purchases of 2024.

A couple of months ago, I spotted Amazon had decreased the price of the Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill and I started picturing what it would be like to have a walking pad in my own home. Now, the retailer has once again slashed the cost of the gadget, with it currently retailing for £179.99, down from £299.99.

I’m a gym member and attend classes several times a week, plus I love outdoor walks, but in the winter I find it hard to leave the house when it’s dark and cold. I realised how useful it would be to have a basic treadmill at home, especially as a fully remote worker.

When I worked in an office, I’d often walk over to colleagues for a chat, head to the kitchen to make a cuppa, or take a stroll around the block during lunch breaks. Now that I work from home, the only time I leave my desk is for a quick toilet break or to grab lunch, which only involves walking downstairs.

The Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill offers a range of speed settings, allowing for anything from a gentle stroll to a sprint. It features an LED display that accurately tracks your workout details such as time, speed, distance, and calories burned.

It comes with a removable handlebar for added safety, and includes a remote control. There’s also a holder for your phone or tablet, enabling you to enjoy your favourite shows or videos while exercising.

I have to admit my main reason for buying the treadmill was to hopefully lose some weight by ensuring I take a daily brisk walk and get in some essential steps. However, I’ve found it offers even more benefits – it provides a much-needed break from my screen during lunchtime, and has reduced back, neck, and shoulder pain caused by prolonged sitting at my desk.

The walking pad is also an excellent way to warm up during the colder months, saving me from putting the heating on. The treadmill also proves useful for weekend workouts when I haven’t got time to go to the gym but can hop on the pad before getting ready and heading out.

The treadmill is conveniently placed next to my desk, allowing me to jump on it whenever I feel like it. It’s quieter than I anticipated, ensuring it doesn’t disrupt the rest of my household.

I typically do a brisk 20-minute walk every weekday during my lunch break, and often add an extra 20 minutes before or after work. A 20-minute fast walk allows me to burn approximately 85 calories and take 2,100 steps.

I’m thrilled with my purchase of the treadmill as it has significantly improved both my physical and mental health. It seems I’m not alone, as it’s received five-star ratings from over 2,400 customers.

I enjoy the privacy of being able to listen to music and walk or jog without anyone watching me in the comfort of my own home. My only gripe is a slight crease on the treadmill belt that appears to have occurred during transit. Despite using it for a couple of months, its still visible, however this hasn’t impacted the walking pad and isn’t a safety concern.

The treadmill comes with handy wheels for easy movement, but it is quite heavy. If you need to move it between rooms or up flights of stairs, you’ll definitely require at least two people to carry it.

The Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill is still available on Amazon here for £179.99. Elsewhere, Argos is selling the Dynamax RunningPad Folding Treadmill for £550, and Debenhams has a 2 in 1 Folding Treadmill on sale for £239.95.
