Huge restaurant chain confirmed for Cotswolds Designer Outlet near M5 as rumours swirl about other big names

A huge new shopping outlet centre is taking shape and gearing up for what’s going to be one of the biggest opening events of the year. Cotswolds Designer Outlet will bring dozens of shops and food and drink outlets to a prime site just off the M5 near Tewkesbury.

Already, jobs are starting to be offered at the centre off junction 9 which is due to open in ‘early summer’ 2025 rather than spring. And people are already speculating and hoping that their favourite brands will sign up and open.

A number of names are already set to open with jobs being advertised. Puma, Under Armour and Five Guys are looking for staff for new shops at the centre.

And now, Wagamama, which has restaurants in Cheltenham and Gloucester, has applied to Tewkesbury Borough Council for a premises licence at Unit 68-69 Cotswolds Designer Outlet, Platinum Drive, Tewkesbury. It wants a licence to sell alcohol on and off the premises from 10am until midnight Monday to Sunday.

It also wants to sell late-night refreshments from 11pm to 12.30am the following day from Monday to Sunday. Opening hours are proposed to be from 10am until 12.30am the following day from Monday to Sunday.

A message on the Wagamama website reads: “Wagamama is coming to Cotswolds Designer Outlet in early summer 2025. We’re excited to connect with local talent and discuss opportunities to join our management team as we prepare for an incredible new restaurant opening.”

Social media has been abuzz with names that could be coming to the site, although there is no official confirmation yet. Other big names include M&S, Zizzi, Clarks, Hallmark, Caffe Nero, Weird Fish, Holland and Barratt and Saltrock.

As well as all the shops and places to eat and drink, the outlet will be part of a huge development of housing with 1,500 new homes being built. It is also near the Dobbies garden centre.
