Coronation Street’s Seamus McGoff, who plays Matty has hinted at his departure from the soap in a move that surprised fans.
This follows a string of departures from the show, with Colson Smith, Luca Toolan, Sue Devaney, Sue Cleaver, and Charlotte Jordan also leaving the iconic series. The actor, who portrayed Matty Radcliffe, took to Instagram to share the news, posting that his character had “gone out with a bang”.
Sharing a behind-the-scenes photo alongside co-stars Jack Carroll, Marc Bayliss, and Rebecca Atkinson, who plays a prison guard, he also shared an image of what appeared to be his last scene.
Fans were quick to express their well-wishes in the comments, with one saying: “Great episode, bad lad. All the best in the future,” while another exclaimed: “Omg are you leaving.”
The comments were filled with questions and expressions of dismay, including “You ain’t done already, are you??!” and “Don’t tell me that is your last scene?”

However, Maureen Lipman has reassured viewers that her absence won’t be permanent, as she told her fans: “I’ll be absent for a while and then coming back. I’m not going to die, but then I’ll be in and out of it because I want to have a bit of a life. David and I are thinking of having a bit of a gap year.”
