Amanda Holden reveals huge family row that saw ‘doors being slammed’

Amanda Holden has shared details about a family row that led to her daughter slamming a door on her after she “gently” asked a question.

Amanda gave her Heart Breakfast listeners a glimpse into her life with her two daughters, Alexa (Lexi) and Hollie. She shares them with her record producer husband, Chris Hughes.

Co-host JK started a conversation about the “most frustrating parent habits”. It prompted the Britain’s Got Talent judge to share a scene from the previous night that will likely be familiar to anyone who has teenagers.

She explained that her relationship with her eldest daughter, Lexi, is “super chilled”, but her dynamic with Hollie is “up the other end of the scale”.

Amanda said: “I’m in the land now where my nearly 19-year-old and I are just like super chilled. She tells me everything. She’s like my little best friend, and then my other gorgeous daughter is nearly 13 and completely up the other end of the scale.

She continued: “Lots of shouting. She slammed the door on me last night because I very gently asked her to leave her phone downstairs. ‘Why are you punishing me?’ I was like, ‘It’s not punishment; I just want you to be able to get on with what you need to do upstairs without your phone’.

“She went mental; she slammed the first door and then she went all the way up the stairs and slammed the second door. You know, like she really banged it for me to hear it.”

Amanda added: “But then she comes down like a psycho (and) says, ‘Mummy, I’m sorry; I love you’.”

She went on to say that she hoped her daughter’s teachers weren’t listening to the show as she receives “great reports” at school. But, Amanda confessed that if she had to write one, it “would not be good”.

It comes as Amanda and her telly pal Alan Carr renovated a property in the Costa Del Sol as part of their show, Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job. But the duo soon encountered a major problem – they couldn’t speak the language.

Amanda told Best: “The funniest thing was when we went to a Spanish DIY shop and tried to ask for things like a chisel or a hammer.” Meanwhile, Alan said that some of the hand gestures got “quite X-rated”.

The hosts have now undertaken projects in both Italy and Spain, with the duo now thinking about where they could travel to next. Amanda said it would be a “dream” to visit Greece but would consider somewhere “closer to home”.
