Sheffield United has closed their fan zone with the Blades issuing an update to supporters.
Since opening in August 2024, the fan zone, which features live entertainment as well as food and drink, has welcomed 12,000 visitors. The club states that after a trial period, the plan is to reassess it with the fan zone not due to open in January and February.
The Bramall Lane club’s chief executive officer, Stephen Bettis, said: “Following the purchase of Boundary Corner and some productive meetings with the fans advisory board, we were delighted to make this offering to supporters. After six months we will now re-evaluate during the winter, as well as gather feedback, as we continually look to offer the best possible service.”
Bob Dyson, chair of Sheffield United’s fan advisory board, added: “We’re in consultation with the club, as the fans advisory board, and have agreed with them that work on the fan zone can commence during the harsh weather weeks of January and February.”
The plan is to reopen in March 2025 with the club open to suggestions with regards to improvements to support the needs of Unitedites. Fans can have their say on this survey.
The fan zone will be used as an additional concourse for fans on the Kop throughout January and February, available from turnstiles opening, until shortly into the second half.
