A man has been charged with kidnap, intentional strangulation and four counts of assault after an incident at flat. Merseyside Police were called around 12.45pm today, Monday, December 30 to Hamilton Street in Birkenhead.
It followed a report a man was allegedly assaulted by another man and a woman was forcefully removed from a flat. The woman was reportedly able to break free and run back to the flat but the man followed her, police said. Officers were also allegedly punched, kicked and bitten by the suspect before he was successfully detained.
A spokesperson for the force said Thomas Dolan, 32, of Park Road South in Claughton has been charged with attempted kidnap, intentional strangulation, four counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker and possession of a Class B drug (cannabis). He was remanded into custody to appear in court today, Tuesday, December 31.
