A six-inch snow bomb will hammer England before the end of the month. From January 27, a six inch – or 15cm – snow bomb looks set to blanket everywhere from the Pennines to Scottish Highlands according to the predictions from WX Charts.
The maps and charts, from WX Charts, using Met Desk data, show a 1000-mile snow bomb lasting until 6pm. The final snow of January looks set to fall on that date, with weather forecasters keeping the country updated amid the bitter chill.
It comes as the BBC Weather team predicts “growing uncertainty” for the final few days of January, adding: “Towards the end of the previous week, the large-scale high-pressure pattern could gradually shift away, as some models suggest low pressure returning to larger parts of the UK, making for a potentially wetter and windier period. Temperatures are likely to be above average.

“Nevertheless, there are still other models suggesting a prolonged or renewed high pressure area centred near or above parts of the UK, which in turn would mean a return of drier and somewhat calmer conditions. Given so, conditions could become more settled, with temperatures probably near the seasonal average for this time of the year.”
It goes on to explain: “Opposing trends are likely to continue later next week as some models indicate a windy, wet and mild scenario. Others are moving the high pressure away, but towards Scandinavia, which would mean that a colder and possibly drier off-continental flow would infiltrate at least parts of the UK from the east and north-east.”
Offering its expertise, the forecasters add: “In the next update, the forecast confidence should increase, at least for the next week. Which weather pattern might prevail: the more settled one with almost seasonal temperatures or the wet, windy and mild one?”
