Natalie Cassidy responds to speculation that she’s The Masked Singer’s Bush

Social media detectives are abuzz with theories that Bush from The Masked Singer might be none other than EastEnders icon Natalie Cassidy. However, on her Off The Telly podcast, Natalie threw cold water on the rumours, cheekily asking co-host Joanna Page: “Can you imagine me doing that?” She firmly declared: “I am not Bush,” but her Gavin & Stacey co-star Joanna wasn’t so easily dissuaded, pressing her for more information.

Natalie pointed out her dislike for performing live and highlighted to Joanna their frequent podcast recordings for BBC Sounds, which would make it tricky to conceal any show commitments: “We have worked together for a whole year,” she insisted. “When would I have I squeezed that in?”

Despite Joanna’s playful skepticism and intent to scrutinise the show for further hints, Natalie maintained that The Masked Singer isn’t popular at her home, with little attention paid to guessing the identities of the performers.

In contrast, Joanna’s family is hooked on the ITV spectacle, harbouring a collective hunch that Natalie will eventually be unmasked, despite the actress noting that the enigmatic Bush’s voice is much deeper than her own.

Despite Natalie’s denials, the majority of The Masked Singer fans are convinced she is a secret competitor on the show. Other names such as Scarlett Moffatt, Kerry Godliman and Katherine Parkinson have also been suggested.

One creative fan speculated on Reddit that Bush was actually comic actor Morgana Robinson “pretending to be Natalie Cassidy,” reports the Mirror.

Betting industry insiders place Natalie’s odds of being revealed as the voice behind Bush at 1/2 – a probability of 66.7%, while Morgana Robinson comes in at 10/1 (9.1%). Three celebrities have now been eliminated from this year’s The Masked Singer.

Grammy winner Macy Gray, the latest to be voted out, left in an obvious huff, having been a finalist in the US version in 2023. The American singer gave monosyllabic answers to the panel after removing her Toad in the Hole costume.

A source told The Sun that the singer may have expected to reach the later stages of the competition, having made the final in the US. They said: “This has never happened on The Masked Singer before.”

The source added: “When Macy stormed off stage everyone was frozen in shock but as soon as she reached backstage, crew removed her mask so they could talk her down.

“Macy was almost shellshocked to start with and was basically gutted to be out so early because she really enjoyed being on the American version – when obviously she did brilliantly – so was totally blindsided.”

The commotion didn’t stop there. An ITV source revealed to The Mirror that the American singer declined to participate in the post-show interview, a tradition for celebrities after their exit from the show.
